How Does the Drum Filter Work?
The Drum Filter RDF 100 PRO is a pre-filter system with a fully automatic cleaning process. Water flows through the inlets into the first chamber of the filter and then to the drum. Next, the drum, which is equipped with a special stainless steel 316L filter panel, filters fish waste and pond debris from the water.
The innovative controller and sensor will detect when the drum requires cleaning. Once the sensor/controller deems the drum sieves to be dirty, it will rotate the drum and activate high pressure water jets that eject the debris into the drain gutter, which then dispenses as a slurry out of the Drum Filter waste/drain pipe.
How to Install the Drum Filter
The RDF 100 PRO comes complete with all necessary parts and is easy to install. The system has three inlets, two outlets and one drain pipe. You can connect the inlets and outlets to your pipework with flexible rubber couplings. In addition, these rubber couplings can compensate for small differences in dimensions and absorb vibration. The required size of the couplings is 110mm (4”).
If you have smaller size pipes or hoses, use a reducer coupling to go from 110mm (4”) to 100mm (2”) for example. Use 110mm (4”) flexible rubber end caps for the in and outlets you don’t want to use.
Furthermore, gravity and pump fed are both possible. We supply the RDF 100 PRO as standard for pump-fed systems. To use the filter for a gravity fed installation, just move the water sensor to holder number 2 (watch video). For further details about the installation, see the manual.
